About 911
WHAT IS 9-1-1?
9-1-1 is an emergency telephone number that provides IMMEDIATE access to LAW
ENFORCEMENT, FIRE, and EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES.
911 is a free call from a pay phone.
WHEN TO USE 9-1-1:
Call 9-1-1 to report a Crime, Fire, Heart Attack, other Serious Medical
Condition or Injury, or any situation requiring the IMMEDIATE response of a
FIRE TRUCK, AMBULANCE, or LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE.
WHAT THE 9-1-1 DISPATCHER WILL NEED TO KNOW:
1. The location of the emergency.
2. The phone number where the emergency is.
3. The nature of the emergency.
IMPORTANT:
Stay Calm. Speak Clearly. Stay on the Telephone until you are
told to hang up.
DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 FOR:
Road/Travel/Severe Weather information, Household/Auto Repairs, Complaints
of Loud Noise, Littering, etc.
