ENGINE SQUAD AND CHIEF RUN SECOND FIRE OF THE DAY, A GARAGE FIRE IN LAKE SHORE

     

Thursday, January 5, 2012 At approximately 1813 hours crew from E122 were just about to clear an incident in 20’s area, odor of smoke in the commercial building when fire radio communication dispatched another call in 20’s area for a garage fire.

 
            Crew of E122 was placed available and fire communications dispatched E122 to the garage fire located at 725 Swann Cove Road in Lake Shore. Crew of E122 with five personnel arrived first on the scene with heavy fire showing to a 50’x50’ garage. Crew of E122 laid approximately 500’ of 5” supply line from the driveway of the address to the building.
 
            Crew of E122 quickly went to work with pulling two 200’ 1 ¾ attack lines, one line to make entry into the garage while the second line was used to protect the exposure on the Delta side to the owner’s home.
           
            Crew from Squad 12 arrived as the first special services piece and quickly went to work with tools pulling walls and removing items from the garage. Crew from Truck 30 arrived and setup lights and a fan to assist with smoke removal. Crew from Truck 30 also assisted with overhaul.
 
            Chief 12 arrived on the scene and took command of water supply as the location of the incident did not have any hydrants. E104 and E131 completed the supply lines and insured the crews from 12 had adequate water. Fire was placed under control in about 45 minutes.
 
            Crews from all companies worked on the incident for approximately 2 hours before returning in service.
