Auxiliary

Welcome to the Earleigh Heights Auxiliary!

Mission:

We, the members of the Auxiliary to the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company (EHVFC), unite to render administrative and financial support to the fire company and our local community.

Goal:

The main goal of the Auxiliary is to host an environment of service-oriented individuals from diverse backgrounds to facilitate camaraderie while supporting the growth of the fire company and community. We are a close-knit group of individuals who have a lot of fun together.

Who We Are:

As of 2024, our auxiliary has over 30 active members spanning many diverse, multi-generational backgrounds - making each members' call to service unique. Our roster ranges from teens to seniors! this makes us rich with perspective to promote interest, establish harmony, and cultivate friendships among those with similar calls to service.

Commitment:

Our organizational commitment can range depending on the individuals’ personal desires.

To maintain an "Active Membership" you must:

  • Attend one Administrative Meeting intended to discuss organizational affairs
  • Work one Wednesday bingo - currently on a six (6) week rotation
  • Attend/Work 50% of other affairs through the year (average <2/month)

Incentive to Join:

Maryland State Income Tax Subtraction Modification Incentive (MITSMI)

  • After three (3) invested years supporting the fire company and meeting a minimum yearly threshold of 50 Service Points, eligibility to claim an Income Tax Deduction is afforded.
  • This benefit is currently slated at $7,000 for 2024 Income Tax Returns.

What Do We Do?

Bingo: Every Wednesday night, we prepare and serve food and beverage during bingo to supplement support to the fire company’s fundraising efforts. We offer burgers, hot dogs, pizza, meatball subs, chicken tenders, sandwiches, and French fries. Our members are divided into six (6) rotating teams.

We coordinate and organize multiple Designer Purse and Cash Bingos. These are a community favorite and a great source of revenue for our auxiliary.

Carnival: The carnival is a major fundraiser EHVFC and is a favorite with the community. It lasts 8-9 days and the Auxiliary prepares and sells food each night.

Cookie and Cocoa with Santa: Lunch with Santa is an extremely popular community event held in early December. We decorate the fire hall and provide crafts for the kids. To give back to the community we serve, we strive to put on this event free of charge for children. We also give everyone the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa!

Snacks with the Easter Bunny: Like Cookie and Cocoa with Santa, we decorate the fire hall, provide crafts for the kids, and give everyone an opportunity to have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Again, to give back to the community, we strive to put on this event free of charge for children.

Other Events: The Auxiliary provides food services for various other EHVFC events - Bull and Oyster Roast and Open House.

We also provide food service upon request from groups that rent the hall.
